DENVER, April 25,
2023 — Pope Francis has appointed
Curtis Martin, Founder and CEO of FOCUS,
as a Consultor to the Section for the Fundamental Questions of Evangelization
in the World of the Dicastery for Evangelization.
“I’m extremely
grateful to the Holy Father for this incredible opportunity to serve the global
Church in this new appointment,” said Martin. “I am honored and look forward to
learning from others in the Dicastery for Evangelization, while sharing from the
experience FOCUS has gained through 25 years of evangelization
outreach.”
Members
of the Dicastery for Evangelization include Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan from the
Archdiocese of New York. Along with 14 other Consultors from around the world, Martin will advise the dicastery
on specific issues on the New Evangelization, especially related to political, social and cultural
challenges to consider in the Church’s efforts to make disciples of all
nations.
Martin holds
a master’s degree in theology and is the author of the best-selling
books, Made for More, Making Missionary
Disciples and Foundations for Discipleship. In
2011, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Martin as a Consultor to the Pontifical
Council of the New Evangelization, a role in which he served for over a
decade.
