These nuns went flying in Central Park!
A group of nuns from the Sisters of Life retreated to the park Saturday morning for a brief sledding break.
Three of the sisters, in their white habits and snow boots, sat on a circular sled as another gave them a push. They squealed in delight as they zoomed downhill, tumbling off at the bottom.
“OK. To the baptism!” one of the nuns exclaimed after the quick ride was over.
Sister Magdalene, the local superior, said the nuns ventured to the park when it appeared they would not be able to travel from their East 66th Street convent to their crisis pregnancy center in Lower Manhattan.
“We basically couldn’t get our cars out of the snow. There were so many cars stuck, we decided to go sledding,” she said. “It was really fun.”
The nuns keep sleds at the convent just for days like Saturday.
They even brought them along to the baptism at St. Vincent Ferrer Church on Lexington Avenue.
“They let us put them in the back,” she said.
The winter storm, which was named Kenan, had dumped more than eight inches of snow on Central Park by late morning.
